Campers participate in a variety of outdoor and nature related activities like fishing, boating, and hiking. They also participate in nature games and activities and are presented with various interactive environmental education programs. During the week, campers are taken on a full day field trip and, on Thursday campers return at 7:00 pm to have dinner and a campout that evening at River Park North. Camp meets Monday –Thursday 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM. Camp is over at 9:00 AM Friday morning. Preregistration is required.

Summertime is a great time to learn and experience new things! Campers participate in activities throughout the week focusing on the local environment through arts and crafts, outdoor exploration, story-telling, and additional environmental education related activities. Bug Hunt at River Park North All Ages (with adult)

Approximately 80% of all animals on the earth are insects, and despite their small size they play a big role at River Park North. We will examine our collection under the microscope in our L.A.S.T. STEAM lab upon our return to the nature center. Preregistration is required. Registration will close at noon on August 1.

Children and adults come learn about the snakes that live in North Carolina and specifically in Eastern North Carolina. This program will be held indoors, where participants will learn about the characteristics for identification of both venomous and nonvenomous species. Registration will close at noon on Monday July 29. Adults must be present with child participants. Participants will meet at River Park North.

These programs will meet at the Welcome Center. Please pre-register each child for each session individually. Maximum number of participants per session is 20 unless otherwise noted. Registration for each session will close at noon on the Monday before the session.

One of the best ways to explore the water is by kayak. Come learn the basics of kayaking on the lake at Wildwood! Parent participation (and pre-registration/payment) is required for students 6 and under. Dress to get a little wet. Tandems can be reserved for a parent & student or two students. Maximum number of participants per session is 10 (including parents on tandems).
